How to Track Trending Topics on X Using SteadyAPI

SteadyAPI already has a marketing note about X data. It does not show how to pull the trend list for a place. This guide uses the trends endpoint, plus the location list that supplies a Where On Earth id.

Authentication

Every call uses a Bearer token from your SteadyAPI dashboard.

1. Pick a location

Trends take a Where On Earth id. The default is 2459115 (United States). Worldwide is 1. The location list returns the rest.

Endpoint: GET /v1/twitter/woeid

This call takes no query parameters. Each item in body includes name, country, countryCode, and woeid.

2. Fetch trends

Pass the woeid you want. Omit it to use the United States default.

Response fields

meta.woeid echoes the location you asked for. Each item in body includes:

• name — trend label
• query — search query for that trend
• url — link to the trend search
• tweet_volume — tweet volume when the source provides it

Practical use

Poll one woeid on a schedule and store name plus tweet_volume. Switch the id when you want another country or city from /v1/twitter/woeid.
