A quote tells you the price. News tells you the headlines attached to that ticker. You already have a symbol from GET /v1/markets/search, or from your own watchlist. This call returns the headline feed for that symbol: title, link, publish time, a short summary, and an id you can store.
Pass either ticker or symbol. They mean the same thing on this route. One of them has to be present.

Authentication
Every call uses a Bearer token from your SteadyAPI dashboard.
Documentation:
https://docs.steadyapi.com/#authenticating-requests
headers = {
'Authorization': 'Bearer YOUR_API_KEY'
}
Where this fits
Search comes first when you only have a company name. Take symbol from that response and send it here as ticker. This call does not continue into another news page. The next market call is usually a quote, GET /v1/markets/quote, with the same ticker. There is no date filter on the news route.
News for a ticker
Endpoint: GET /v1/markets/news
Documentation:
https://docs.steadyapi.com/#stocks-options-GETapi-v1-markets-news
Parameters
ticker— ticker symbol. Required whensymbolis omitted.symbol— same role asticker. Required whentickeris omitted.
Sending ticker or symbol changes nothing except which query key you used. The feed is the current headline list for that symbol. There is no page, count, or date parameter, so you cannot ask for an older window. Poll again later and use guid to see what is new.
Python
import requests
url = "https://api.steadyapi.com/v1/markets/news"
headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}
response = requests.get(url, headers=headers, params={"ticker": match["symbol"]})
response.raise_for_status()
items = response.json().get("body", [])
for item in items[:5]:
print(item.get("pubDate"), item.get("title"))
print(item.get("link"))
Annotated sample
{
"title": "Apple Stock Fell Again. Where It Might Be Headed Next.",
"link": "https://finance.yahoo.com/m/add44664-1841-3deb-b939-03622143ab97/apple-stock-fell-again.-where.html",
"pubDate": "Wed, 09 Aug 2023 21:38:00 +0000",
"description": "Apple stock finally ended its post-earnings losing streak on Tuesday.",
"guid": "add44664-1841-3deb-b939-03622143ab97"
}
Store guid and link. guid is the stable item id. title and pubDate are what you show. description is a summary, and it can be several sentences. The articles live on body as a list. meta.ticker echoes the symbol you sent.
Practical use
Keep a set of guid values you have already shown. The next poll returns the current feed again, including headlines you have seen. Alert only when guid is new.
One of ticker or symbol must be set. A request with neither is rejected. If both are set, ticker is the one that is used.
This is a headline list, not the article body. Follow link for the full story. There is no parameter that returns more than the current feed.
