SteadyAPI for AI assistants

MCP server for AI agents

Connect Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP clients to SteadyAPI with your API key. The agent calls the API for you when a question needs market data, Reddit posts, Amazon products, or YouTube videos.

Tools

What the agent can do

Each tool is a read-only call to an endpoint listed in the documentation. The agent picks the tool and the parameters, and you see the result in the chat.

Markets

Quotes, price history, company data, news, movers, screeners, insider trades, analyst ratings, financials, SEC filings, calendars, options chains, unusual options activity, IV rank, RSI, SMA, MACD, and crypto quotes.

Reddit

Search posts, read a subreddit's posts and comments, open a post with its comments, and look up subreddits and users.

Amazon

Search products, then read product details, reviews, offers, best sellers, and seller profiles.

YouTube

Search videos, read video details, comments, and transcripts, and list the videos on a channel or playlist.

One URL, or one product

Use https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp for every tool, or /mcp/markets, /mcp/reddit, /mcp/amazon, or /mcp/youtube to load fewer tools.

Counts like the API

Each tool call is a normal API request at the endpoint's weight. Listing tools and other protocol messages don't count.

Setup

Connect your client

Create a key on the API Tokens page, then add the server to your client. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key, and keep that file out of shared repositories.

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http steadyapi https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{
    "servers": {
        "steadyapi": {
            "type": "http",
            "url": "https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp",
            "headers": {
                "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
            }
        }
    }
}

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or to .cursor/mcp.json in one project:

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "steadyapi": {
            "url": "https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp",
            "headers": {
                "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
            }
        }
    }
}

Use these settings in any client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP:

  • URL: https://api.steadyapi.com/mcp
  • Transport: Streamable HTTP
  • Header: Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY

Some web apps only connect to servers that sign in with OAuth. This server uses your API key in a header instead, so use a client that lets you set request headers.

FAQ

Questions about the MCP server

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI assistants call outside tools. The SteadyAPI MCP server lists API endpoints as tools, and your client calls them when a question needs data.
It depends on the question. An agent may call several tools to answer one question, for example a quote, then news, then price history. Ask for specific tickers, dates, and filters, and check the usage on your dashboard.
Options tools appear only when your plan includes options data. The Free plan does not include it.
Yes. The Terms allow you to connect your key to AI assistants and agents you use, and to send the returned data to your AI model provider to answer your own requests. Your plan's license still applies: plans without Commercial Use are for personal, non-commercial use.
There is no separate charge for the MCP server, and it works on every plan. Each tool call counts against your monthly allowance by the endpoint's weight, the same as calling the API yourself. Listing tools and other protocol messages don't count.
Large results are cut so they fit in the model's context, for example to the most recent 120 price bars or the first 50 items. The result says what was cut. Narrow the request, or call the REST API for the full response.
Yes. Tool calls share the API limit of 10 requests per second. Over the limit, the tool returns a message that asks the agent to wait and retry.
Your client sends the key to api.steadyapi.com in the Authorization header over HTTPS. If a key leaks, revoke it on the API Tokens page and create a new one.
